Hilltop Recreation Association Inc
In September of 2007, the HillTop Recreation Association was formed with a view to masterplan and re-design the Olinda and Kalorama Reserve precincts.
The Association was made up of 5 constituent clubs;
- Olinda Ferny Creek Football Netball Club
- Olinda Cricket Club
- Olinda Ferny Creek Junior Football Club
- Kalorama / Mt.Dandenong Tennis Club
- Sassafras / Ferny Creek Netball Club
Each club had 2 nominated reps forming a committee of 10. In addition to this, Steve Scott was appointed as an independent President as he was no longer serving on football or cricket committee's. Paul Wicks was appointed as an independent Vice-President as he too, was no longer serving on any of the constituent clubs committee's.
Over the next 8 years, this group worked extremely hard on negotiating outcomes that took into account the needs of all parties and coming up with a design that we now see on the site.
Finally on the 23rd August 2014 the Olinda Ferny Creek Football Netball Club hosted the Opening day of the new Pavilion.
At the next AGM Steve Scott stood down as President and was replaced by Ben Selby Hele. Currently Hilltop are working on plans to develop a second oval on the Old Olinda Golf Course.
Following a lot of opposition from some areas of the community and beyond, the Olinda community were fortunate enough to receive a new sporting oval located on the 9th, 17th and 18th fairways of the old Olinda Golf Course. This new oval, called the Olinda Sporting Precinct is intended for cricket during the summer and junior footy during the winter and was funded by the State Government and the Shire of Yarra Ranges and arguably provides the best views of any oval in Australia.
In February 2021 the Olinda CC division 10 team played its first cricket game on the new oval. Club stalwart and Captain of the Division 10 team, Peter "Mad Dog" Hayne, bowled the first ball of the game.
